What is Figure 03?
Figure 03 is a robot built to look and move a bit like a person. It has a head, two arms, two hands, and two legs, so it can stand up and walk around instead of rolling on wheels.
A robot shaped like a human is called a 'humanoid' robot. The idea is simple: our homes and workplaces are built for people, so a people-shaped robot might fit right in and lend a hand.
Why did it win an award?
Each year, Time magazine picks its 'Best Inventions' — a list of clever new things that could help make life better. In 2025, Figure 03 made the list.
Getting on this list is a bit like making a school's honor roll for cool inventions. It means experts think the robot is an exciting step forward.
How could it help people?
The dream is that robots like Figure 03 could one day do boring or tiring chores. Think of carrying boxes, tidying up, or helping in factories and warehouses.
Its hands are built to grab and hold objects gently, the way your hands pick up a cup without crushing it. That careful touch is really hard for a machine to learn!
How does a robot 'think'?
Inside the robot is a computer brain that uses artificial intelligence, or 'AI'. AI helps the robot see with its cameras, understand what is around it, and decide what to do next.
Learning to balance on two legs is tricky. Just like you wobbled when you first learned to walk, engineers spend a long time teaching robots to stay upright and not tip over.
What comes next?
Figure 03 is still new, and most helper robots are being tested rather than living in everyday homes. Scientists keep improving them so they become safer, smarter, and more useful.
Maybe by the time you grow up, a friendly robot helper will be as normal as a dishwasher. For now, it's amazing to watch these machines take their first steps into the world.
